Lancome Bienfait UV 50+ Sunscreen

LancomeCover.jpg

Hey guys! So if you’ve read my post about The 10 Step Korean Skincare Routine, you know that sunscreen is a big deal in skincare. Even I’m a little guilty of not wearing sunscreen everyday, especially on the days that I don’t even leave the house! (Which is depressingly often). Part of that reason is that I hate the way sunscreen feels. It usually leaves a white cast or makes my skin feel greasy and will even make me break out. Yet sunscreens are getting better and better about improving the technology. One of these innovative sunscreens is the Lancome Bienfait UV 50+ Super Fluid Sunscreen.

Claims: On Macy’s website they say

This light-weight, oil-free broad spectrum sunscreen is fast-absorbing and a perfect choice to wear every day over your Lancôme moisturizer, under makeup or alone.

I do love how this sunscreen is oil free and lightweight.

Ingredients:

Active Ingredients: Avobenzone 3%, Homosalate 15%, Octisalate 5%, Octocrylene 5%, Oxybenzone 6%

Inactive Ingredients: WATER, CYCLOPENTASILOXANE, ALCOHOL DENAT., SILICA, DICAPRYLYL ETHER, STYRENE/ACRYLATES COPOLYMER, PEG-30, DIPOLYHYDROXYSTEARATE, DIMETHICONE, CYCLOHEXASILOXANE, POLYMETHYLSILSESQUIOXANE, NYLON-12, DICAPRYLYL CARBONATE, PHENOXYETHANOL, LAURYL PEG/PPG-18/18 METHICONE, SODIUM CHLORIDE
CAPRYLYL GLYCOL, METHYLPARABEN, POLY C10-30 ALKYL ACRYLATE
DISTEARDIMONIUM HECTORITE, DISODIUM EDTA, DODECENE, POLOXAMER 407

Everything here makes sense but it’s definitely a little disappointing to see denatured alcohol. Even though I know that it’s to get that super fluid texture, I still wish they found some other way to do it. Denatured alcohol is a type of alochol that dries out the skin and gradually breaks down the skin barrier. Although not all alcohols are bad, this one is. I would prefer a simple gel sunscreen like the Biore Gel Sunscreen . The presence of Dimethicone is also not my favorite. I have found that my skin doesn’t love Dimethicone even though it’s suppose to not clog your pores. Dimethicone works great for making your skin feel silky smooth and poreless, but I don’t feel amazing using it.

The Run-Down:

This sunscreen is super runny, absorbs quickly, and doesn’t leave my skin feeling greasy. I do get a little bit of a greasy feeling but it’s not too bad. I just really love the lightweight feeling of the sunscreen and so do all of the people who have purchased this sunscreen. Furthermore, since it’s a chemical sunscreen there’s no white cast. (A chemical sunscreen means that there are nothing physically protecting your skin from UV rays. Instead, the chemicals change the UV rays into heat and then release the heat from the skin. The only part that really makes me question how amazing this sunscreen is, is the price point and the ingredients list.

Pros and Cons:

PROS

  • Amazing texture
  • Absorbs quickly
  • No white cast

CONS

  • Price point
  • Presence of denatured alcohol and dimethicone

Who Should Use:

If you have the money, I think most people would enjoy the texture of this sunscreen. Still, I think that the Biore Gel Sunscreen is my favorite, both for it’s amazing texture and fantastic price point. So overall, I would say that this sunscreen is great, but not worth it.

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐

3/5 stars

Good sunscreen, but there are just as nice or even better sunscreens for a cheaper price point.
