Wishtrend has advertised this cream as one of their all time favorites. dearKlairs even recently released a Midnight Blue Calming Serum. The color is what drew me in, the natural sleepy blue that looked so calming. Of course, color itself is not enough to calm skin down so to the product itself!
Claims:
On dearKlair’s website they claim, “The Midnight Blue Calming Cream is a gentle cream that provides comfort to rapidly calm & soothe sensitivity.” The site also mentions the cream is, “For oily, acne-prone and sensitive skin to soothe redness and calm sensitivity from sun exposure.”

After cleansing, toning and using treatment products, dispense the cream into the palm of the hand. Smooth or pat over the skin, until fully absorbed. Follow with SPF during the day or use it as your last skincare step at night. Personally, I sometimes use it as an eye cream.
Ingredients:
Water, Cetyl Ethylhexanoate, Butylene Glycol, Glycerin, Sodium Hyaluronate, Caprylic/Capric , Triglyceride, Centella Asiatica Extract, Sorbitan Stearate, Cetyl Alcohol, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter), Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Sorbitan Sesquioleate, Glyceryl Stearate, Stearic Acid, Portulaca Oleracea Extract, Anthemis Nobilis Flower Extract, Ceramide 3, Polysorbate 60, Bees Wax, Chlorphenesin, Tocopheryl Acetate, Xanthan Gum, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl, Acrylate Crosspolymer, Morus Alba Root Extract, Triethanolamine , Brassica Oleracea Italica (Broccoli) Extract, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil, Eucalyptus Globulus Leaf Oil, Pelargonium Graveolens Flower Oil, Citrus Limon (Lemon) Peel Oil, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Peel Oil, Cananga Odorata Flower Oil, Guaiazulene, Acetyl Hexapeptide-8, Lecithin, Acetyl Glutamine, SH-Oligopeptide-1, SH-Oligopeptide-2, SH-Polypeptide-1, SH-Polypeptide-9, SH-Polypeptide-11, Bacillus/Soybean/Folic Acid Ferment Extract, Caprylyl Glycol, 1,2-Hexanediol
Whew, it’s a mouthful. It looks like most of this cream is water which is disappointing. Fortunately, the next ingredient is Cetyl Ethylhexanoate which is a skin lubricant and is safe. Butylene Glycol is an alcohol but it’s fine in small quantities. Cetyl Alcohol is another one but as a fatty alcohol, it doesn’t cause any harm to the skin. The ingredients that seem to be beneficial are all of the Oils (ie. Lavender, Eucalyptus, Citrus), Centella Asiatica Extract, and Guaiazulene. Centella Asiatica is pretty high up on the list so this product might help acne and scarring. Wishtrend does not promote this as much as the guaiazulene which is supposed to give the cream is beautiful blue color as well as calm the skin. Guaiazulene is rather low on the list so it won’t contribute to the functionality of the product as much as it’s appearance. Overall, a solid ingredient list but not effective toward the claims.
Price:
For 30 mL
SokoGlam: $24.50 (not including shipping)
Amazon: $22.80 (including shipping)
Wishtrend: $24.50 (not including shipping)
The price is a little steep given the small amount but granted, it is a spot treatment so it makes sense.
The Run-Down:
The cream itself is quite thick and moisturizes nicely. The cooling sensation lasts for a couple of seconds to a minute, perhaps longer if stored in the fridge, but the feeling doesn’t penetrate the skin enough to calm inflamed or red areas. It’s not as much of a spot treatment as an eye cream for me. The picture on Wishtrend’s site looked like the jar was full but like a bag of chips, I opened the jar to find it half empty. The cream wasn’t soothing as much as moisturizing. The feeling on the skin is pleasantly light.
Pros and Cons:
PROS
- Cooling for a minute
- Very Pretty
- Moisturizes Well
- Has Centella Asiatica so it may help acne over time
- Comes With a Spatula
- Good Texture and Feeling
- Neutral Smell
CONS
- Doesn’t Calm Skin
- Unsanitary even though it has a spatula (my personal opinion)
Who Should Use:
If you’re looking for a blue eye cream that cools your eye area before you sleep, I would recommend this.
Rating:
3/5 punches. It’s a very standard cream that does the job. It just doesn’t have many side effects that hit specialized problems making it a rather ineffective spot treatment. The $22.50 price tag doesn’t do me in either. It doesn’t break me out though! I have nothing bad to say about this product but nothing too good either.
